Wow this last week has been busy.

Kelsey had her only Wisdom Tooth pulled on Monday - she had a little swelling but not too bad. She was lucky to only have one.

Mekenzie had a band concert Wednesday night. She plays the flute and she does such a great job with it. I love the flute, it has such a beatiful sound. She has played the flute for 3 years now and I am amazed how much progress she has made.

This last weekend we went to St. George. Morgan played for the High School so she went down on a charter bus and Craig and I went down ourselves. We had a great time. We visited Mallorey and watched Morgan's team play. Morgan didn't get to play because she is only a freshman, but it was fun getting to know some of the girls on her team and their parents.

Today is Easter. I love Easter because that means spring is really on it's way. I love spring because...

I love to see the flowers budding

I love to see the trees blossom

I love to see the grass go from brown to green

I love to hear the birds chirping in the morning time

I love to walk outside and smell the air in the spring time

I love to go for walks

I love to walk outside and not get blasted with cold air

I love the colors of spring

I love SPRING

Sadie Hawkins Dance

Last night Austin got a call about 10:00 pm and someone told him to go around his neighborhood and look for something by a stop sign. I was wondering what was going on and then I realized that Sadie Hawkins was coming up. Sure enough he came back with a big tote full of soda pop and a cute sign on the front that says, "I would be SODA LIGHTED if you went to the Sadies's Dance with me." I thought that was a pretty cute idea.

So I asked Austin how he wanted to answer her and we came up with Easter Eggs. Seems it is the Easter Season, we got some eggs and filled each one with candy and a piece of paper. Each paper had one word on it and she had to put the puzzle together. The papers read - "Yes, I would love to go to the dance with you." He took the Easter Basket up to her door, rang the bell and ran. (I sure hope it was the right house).

It brought me back to my highschool days and how much fun it was to go to dances. I would always go in a big group and I always had a great time. My days in High School were definitely some of the best days of my life.

Mallorey came up this last weekend and it was so much fun seeing her. I love it when she comes home because it feels so good to have our family together again.

I am so proud of her and her accomplishments. On May 2nd, she will graduate with her associates degree and then will be going on to get her bachelor's degree in accounting. WAY TO GO MAL!!!

I really appreciate how Mal has been such a good example to her younger siblings. She is very obedient, she is smart, she has integrity, she has a lot of common sense, and she is a lot of fun. We all miss her, but know that she is having the time of her life while she is away at college.

Morgan's First High School Softball Game

I am so excited for Morgan. She made the Davis High School softball team as a ninth grader. She is so thrilled.

Last night, she played in her very first High School game and it was against Skyline. She played first base, which she isn't used to at all, but what a great opportunity for her. She plays catcher and third base on her competition team and she has played first base before, but just not recently and not with the "big leagues", so this is exciting for her to learn something new. She also got up to bat once and the pitcher walked her - BUMMER!!! I would have loved to see her have a good hit - but oh well, at least she got on base. She then was able to score for Davis.

There were two games, the first was the varsity game and Davis won 9 to 6. The second game was the Jr. Varsity and they didn't have time to finish the game before it got dark (as you can see in one of the pictures), but when they called the game the score was Skyline 5, Davis 4.

I am so proud of her. She is a great player with a great attitude. She is very much a leader on her teams and I really love to watch her play. WAY TO GO MORGAN!!!

The Cabin

"The Cabin"

This weekend we went to one of our favorite places, "The Cabin". The cabin is up by Oakley about an hour and a half away. Craig, his dad, and his uncle built it almost 30 years ago.

When Craig and I first started dating, he would ask Austin and Morgan and I to go up to the cabin with he and his girls. I thought it would be a very old rustic thing and I am not really all that into camping, so I would find excuses to stay home. Well, I finally agreed to go with him and when I saw it, I was pleasantly surprised and quite upset with myself for not going sooner. I fell in love with it.

Craig even proposed to me up there.

Some of our favorite things to do at the cabin are:

Ride 4 wheelers

Look for animals - we have seen moose, deer, badgers, a fox, chipmunks, beavers, rock chucks, hummingbirds, and woodpeckers.

Go on hikes

Play games

Play horse shoes

Feed the deer right out of our hands

Fish at Smith & Moorehouse

Kayak on Smith & Moorehouse

Sled in the winter time

Play in the river - in fact, Craig drops the kids off the overpass into the river. They have to do a cannonball so they don't hit their legs on the bottom.

Midnight walks

Prepare Dutch Oven

Watch movies

Read

Best of all - RELAX

Some of my fondest memories of the cabin are Craig's practical jokes. One time he sent the kids upstairs to go to bed and when they thought we were asleep, he got a long fishing pole and started tapping on the window upstairs where the kids were. All of a sudden they were screaming and running downstairs to us. We told them we hadn't heard anything, but we would listen. This went on quite a few more times; the kids were almost in tears and I couldn't keep a straight face. It was so funny and they were not happy with us at the time - now they laugh about it.

Another time Craig went into the bathroom and climbed out the window. We all thought he was still in the bathroom when the lights went out and someone started knocking on the floor. I am pretty sure that people all over the mountain heard our screams.

Many times the power goes out and it is a lot of fun to light the kerosene lamps and play games.

A few years ago, my mom and sister and I went there to scrapbook. We had a great time and got a lot accomplished. We packed up and were getting ready to head home when I slammed the gate and forgot to move my finger out of the way - my finger was smashed, broken, and half off. Needless to say, I am much more careful when it comes to the gate.

Our family absolutely loves the cabin. I am grateful to be able to go there quite a few times each year.
